Wake Up Call is angry. Angry at sleep. Angry at you. I love it.

I like dark roasts, and I especially like drinks that can deliver as much caffeine as quickly as possible. What I often find though, is that dark roasts often come with a bitter and / or acidic aftertaste (I'm looking at you, Jet Fuel). Wake Up Call, however, is incredibly smooth.

On the medium setting, Wake Up Call is consistently decent and full-flavored. It's passable on the large setting, which I find uncommon. Really, though, medium is where it's at.

And caffeine? Well, every morning, I brew one cup on medium, and one on small, which fills my Contigo Double Wall Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Tumbler perfectly. By the time my cup is empty, I'm ready to tear the heads off of all who would oppose me, and scream at their corpses. I mean that in the best, most awesome way possible.

If you're not ready to commit to 50 of these, consider picking up the Coffee People Extra Bold Variety Pack, and try out Jet Fuel, Black Tiger, and Organic (as well as Wake Up Call, of course).

Wake Up has become my daily coffee choice - perfect blend of strong and smooth - to both start out the day and throughout the day - and has been now for the last year. It's just bold enough to, well...wake you up in the morning, without being a slap in the face.

I drink it with heated 2% milk which I blend into the cup as it is brewing. I've tried many of the 'bold' coffees and this is my favorite. I like the Emeril's chicory blend for an after dinner coffee which has a more complex, strong flavor.

I saw some comments from folks that said the coffee had an aftertaste etc. and I really recommend you check what water you are using in the Keurig machine. I've seen a noticable difference in taste when occasionally someone else in the house fills the container with straight tap water (and we do have good quality city water) versus filling it with water through our tap filter.

My frustration right now is that I can't get the Wake Up Call on subscription (in the 50-pack no frustration packaging) and have to remember to go on and re-order it each month (which usually happens when I realize we've run out). Amazon - why isn't this still on subscription order?

    Thanks.

Maybe I am a coffee wimp, but I don't think so; this product is drinkable but not as enjoyable as I would like. I am fairly new to the K-Cup world and so far I am most fond of Timothy's Kona Blend and the Timothy's Colombian Decaf (for an evening cup). Wake-Up Call can be brewed using the large-cup setting and still come out pretty strong, so it has a certain economic benefit but it's un-interestingly bitter. I am not afraid of bitterness; As a beer brewer, certified beer judge and beer journalist, I drink some pretty hoppy and bitter beer on a regular basis.

My search for my "stock" morning cup of Joe continues...

If you already own a Keurig, skip to the next paragraph. If you haven't bought one yet because you're a little worried by the reports that the coffee it makes is "not quite strong enough," then fear no more. Buy the Keurig--you won't regret it.

Wake Up Call is one of what I think of as the Coffee People ExtraBold Trilogy: Wake Up Call, Jet Fuel, and Black Tiger. Wake Up Call has a rich, almost caramel flavor, with a very mild tobaccoey aftertaste. All three of them are for the bold coffee lover... if Dunkin' Donuts is your java of choice, stay away from this one!

When we first bought our Keurig, I was timid about buying large quantities, but once you find a few brews you really like, bulk purchase makes a lot of sense. K-cups are packed with nitrogen, so the coffee stays fresh an amazingly long time, and the last cup you brew is as delicious as the first. The box this product ships in is the only container--no smaller boxes inside (that just have to go in the recycle bin anyhow)--and the price per K-cup is better. What's not to like? Bold coffee lovers of the world, Wake Up and smell the coffee!

Face it, coffee drinkers! You cannot have it all! The k-up system offers simplicity and speed in getting coffee into your system when it is most needed, but the very nature of the beast - the light-weight amount of ground beans in a k-cup, the quick extraction process of the machine - precludes getting the heavy, robust, deep roasted flavor of other methods - ie. the press or expresso maker. The Keurig machine is very convenient, is easy to use, is made with quality materials, but it does not make SUPER rich coffee. The best we can hope for is a selection like "Wake Up Call" - a bold dark roast smooth flavorful coffee that I think is about as good as k-cup gets!! I have tried ALL the extra bold, dark roast, french roast, and italian roast k-cups that amazon offers and this one is my favorite! My 2nd choice would be Green Mountain Sumatran Extra Bold, but it is more expensive!!

I was looking forward to tasting this coffee because of rave reviews, only to find out that it tastes somewhere between IHOP coffee and waffle house coffee. That's if the k cup was actually good, seeing as how half of them were defective. literally about half of the cups the grinds would end up in your coffee. this is the only k cup I've had this problem with. if you like strong coffee that tastes good, too, i would suggest midnight magic.
