Great brewing option for singles or families with only one coffee drinker
I saw my first Keurig in action at my brother's house during a visit to Indiana last summer. His whole family drinks coffee and likes different kinds, so the Keurig was a great option to let everyone have the cup of coffee they want. The collection of kcups they had only offered a few decaf options and, due to health reasons, I am ONLY able to drink decaf, but luckily for me the decaf they did have was Timothy's Decaf Colombian. WOW. What a great cuppa joe...esp. for decaf! I wasn't much of a coffee drinker at the time...partly because I hated having to go through the whole coffee measuring/paper filter/water pouring/brewing process in a regular coffeemaker for ONE cup of coffee, which is all I generally want. Over the past year, though, I began enjoying a cup of decaf coffee at a neighbor's house on a fairly regular basis and realized that I would drink coffee more often if I could just make one cup and do so quickly. One year after I had my first cup of Keurig coffee in Indiana, I bought my own Keurig. I got the B60 because I loved the option of various-size mugs and especially the large water tank so that you didn't have to pour water in with every use. Despite the fact that we're going through a horrific heat wave, I have really enjoyed having coffee in my Keurig. So far, I have only tried two kinds of decaf--Timothy's Colombian and Caribou Coffee, which I tried at my friend's house. I look forward to trying more varieties! My Keurig arrived with a heavy folder including a fantastic quick setup guide, an owner's manual and some information on ordering more kcups. The included video reviews the Keurig's instrument panel and coffeemaking process, as well as some Keurig accessories I purchased for my coffeemaker.

I LOVE this coffee brewer! No mess to clean up and everyone can have their own favorite.

I had a Melitta one:one pod coffee brewer before this and liked the machine. But the water never seemed very hot after brewing, and the pod options were very limited. And frankly, I just didn't care for Melittas' coffee flavors.

After comparing the Tassimo and the Keurig options: available drinks (included coffees/teas/hot chocolates), brew sizes, owner reviews and product functionalities; I decided to go with the Keurig B-60 and I am not disappointed.

The machine heats the water up in under a minute. The brew cycle is less than 30 seconds for a mug of coffee. It also does an expresso size cup as well as a travel mug. The water reservoir on the side holds about a carafe's worth of water, so you don't have to fill it up between servings....something that drove me a bit nuts with the Melitta. The footprint is a bit larger than a standard coffeemaker, but it still fits nicely on my limited counter space. It's solidly constructed and the k-cup mechanism is smooth...we're talking metal parts here people!

Now for the most important feature: it brews great coffee, tea and hot chocolate! (The B-60 comes with a 18 piece variety pack to get you started...a nice bonus not mentioned in the product description!) With Green Mountain, Gloria Jeans, Timothy's, Van Houtte's, Diedrich's and now Tully's coffees available in pre-packaged k-cups, coffee has never been simplier to make or more delicious. For tea lovers, there's Timothy's, Celestial Seasonings, Bigelow's, Gloria Jean's and (new to the line-up) Twinnings. Ghirardelli even makes hot chocolate packets compatible for the Keurig! And if none of those options meet with your tastes, you can buy "My k-cup" and fill it with your own favorite ground coffee or tea blend!

So to sum it up: it brews great hot coffee, hot teas and hot chocolate; there's a great coffee/tea k-cup selection available for the Keurig; everyone can be happy and make their own favorite hot beverage; and there's no cleanup other than popping out the used k-cup.

What can be better than this?!

UPDATE: 4+ YEARS AND STILL GOING STRONG!
We have used this B60 brewer daily for 4 years and 3 months as of this update. We've had only one problem in the entire time we've had it: about a year ago the foam seal around the upper puncture point fell off as the glue failed. I contacted Keurig Customer Service and they immediately sent out a new seal. I had it in my hands only 2 days after I called.

After the first 3 months, I did begin using filtered water (Pur water carafe with a filter) and have never had to descale it, nor has it ever clogged on me.

My only complaint (really more of an inconvenience than a complaint) after all this time, is the lack of a battery back-up for the clock setting. If we lose power, even for an instant, the clock resets back to 12:00 AM. All the other settings are retained. This means if I don't notice that the power glitched during the day, the auto-on setting turns the brewer on at an odd time before I get it reset.

Great value for the money. We're enjoying the even greater selection of coffees, teas and hot chocolates than we could originally find. Tully's is our new favorite coffee company. I will definitely be getting another Keurig brewer after this one goes...hopefully in another 4 years!

UPDATE #2 - April 10, 2013 - My Keurig is now 7 years old. It gets used daily and still works flawlessly. I have used filtered water in it and have NEVER had to descale it to this day. The only thing I had to replace on it so far wad the rubber bumper surrounding the upper piercing device. I contacted Keurig after it fell off, the glue fails after being steamed over and over, and they sent me a replacement bumper in an envelope within 2 days! Very impressive and it's nice to kee this company stand behind its product. Loving the fact that there are so many additional companies making k-cup coffee pods than when I first purchased it...and the number of k-cup converter options that work well is encouraging. I stand by my original statement: I'm STILL in love with this coffee brewer!!

So, I've admittedly only had this machine for a short 48 hours, but I've used it 16 times already. Yes, my wife and I are coffee NUTS. We have a coffee pot as well, but noticed that too many times, we were dumping coffee out after getting busy, not drinking it all, or simply forgetting to refill our mugs. We figured that if we took the time to add up all the coffee we actually wasted, dumping into the sink, we would save money overall, in one year, buy getting this machine and buying K Cups and the reusable filter that you can purchase with it (more on that later).

There have been reviews here about weak coffee, but having been a coffee drinker for such a long time, it's obvious to me that it's about how much coffee vs how much water you use to get that perfect cup. Some complained it makes too weak a cup of coffee. To test that theory, we used the Extra Bold K-Cups that came with the machine and brewed up a cup using the SMALLEST setting available. WHOA...I don't know what people would EVER think it brewed it weak, because I like a strong cup, and this was STRONG. Actually, was a little too strong. My wife did the same with the MEDIUM setting, and that seemed to do the trick. It was in fact Bold, but not over the top. Using the LARGE cup setting, I found the extra bold coffee to be still very good, and for most people who do not like BOLD, it might be almost perfect, and maybe, still too strong.

The machine, as you might have guessed, offers 3 settings, for small cup, medium, and large. I have found myself using the Medium setting most of the time, for a good regular cup of coffee.

Now, I've also read that it leaks and is messy...HUH? Where and how that happens is beyond me. Now, yeah, I've only had it a few days, so maybe that might be the case in a little while. But right out of the box, this machine does what it's supposed to, fast, no mess, and makes a GREAT cup of coffee. I mean, WOW, why we waited so long to jump on this was beyond me.

Remember people, EVERYONE has different taste buds. Strong to some might be TOO strong to others. If you like BURNED coffee, you can still get that taste with the small setting. You might be upset at the small cup you get, but Espresso drinkers would be pleased. Taste buds need to be taken into account here.

As with a regular coffee pot, the less water, the strong the cup. With this machine, use the smaller setting if you need to. Personally, I found the 9 ounce setting using Extra Bold coffee to still provide a very good and strong cup of coffee.

We also have used the filtered water from the fridge as it recommends.

One thing that I also picked up with the reusable filter that you can buy separately. I read reviews and keep seeing "messy" but I can 100% guarantee that those folks are NOT following the directions properly. If you add ground coffee to it, and it's too fine, yes, it will probably clog up the filter and cause the water to back up.

I use my own grinder, and don't grind the beans too finely. Doing this, using the reusable filter, produced another great cup of coffee. I can see how it could be an issue of durability because the filter does feel a little "weak" or fragile from materials standpoint, but I would guess to either get 2 of them, or don't scrub the damn thing. I just flicked each side of the filter and it all came up, with the rest a quick rinse in the sink.

    OVERALL:

    Pros -

    1. Easy to use
    2. Coffee comes out HOT, unlike some of the reviews I read. (actually, hot enough it burned my hand grabbing side of cup).
    3. Looks very nice
    4. Easy to clean
    5. Easy to remove the filter and replace with removable filter
    6. 3 different settings
    7. Can adjust water temperature settings
    8. Self cleaning if needed.
    9. Large variety of coffees available for the machine
    10. QUIET (not sure what people were experiencing with noise, but I thought it was less noisy than my pot brewer)

    Cons -

    1. Little pricey, but might be a steal if you find yourself dumping too much coffee from the pot
    2. Constant refilling of water holder can be a pain, especially if you have this under cabinets.

Remember, when people talk about making "weak coffee", I think it depends on the person, and it's adjustable, so you can make it stronger or not as strong depending on your preference.

We are VERY PICKY coffee drinkers, so trust me when I tell you, you'll love this machine and the convenience if you are big time coffee drinkers like we are.

OH, and one more thing. The stainless steel tray where you place the mug during brewing can be removed so you could put a travel mug under it and it fits perfectly.
